The Lands of the Forgotten Ring

The ring was forgotten. The darkness was not.

Three ages ago, when the dark lord Morghûl forged the Ring of Dominion in the furnaces of Mount Eternal, the free peoples united for the first and last time to wrest it from him. A nameless hero cast it into a chasm of fire, and the lord was defeated... but not destroyed. His essence scattered like ash in the wind, and the ring vanished into the deep waters of the Mirror River. Now, three generations later, the trees of the Eastern Forests have begun to wither in spirals. The dwarves report shadows in sealed tunnels. The halflings have found tracks of dark boots near their quiet villages. Something has awakened in the depths, and the Forgotten Ring has begun calling to those with the weakness to listen. The free peoples are fragmented, their old alliances rusted by centuries of comfortable peace. The Council of the Five Trees has been convened for the first time in a hundred years, though no one knows yet if they will arrive in time. In these days of omen, only one certainty remains: the ring must be found before darkness finds it.
